Mark Helped So Many

Created by Chris 11 years ago
Mark was my fantastic brother who lived life to the full working very hard in the retail D.I.Y industry for many years. He worked his way up to a shop manager and later he qualified as a drug testing councillor. He made many friends over the years and attended both rugby league matches at Wakefield Trinity and enjoyed following his beloved Leeds United all around the country and into Europe. When Mark was younger he would regularly socialise with his friends enjoying their Friday and Saturday nights out. Mark was always kind and happy to help other people whenever he could and really valued and loved his family and friends. Even when I was away from the UK for 16 years we were close as a family and would keep in touch on a regular basis. Mark was a superstar and had a really great sense of humour but occasionally he could be a wind up merchant at the same time! Fate dealt him a cruel hand and in 2006 on his birthday he was diagnosed with MOTOR NEURONE DISEASE. The news was devastating to all the family and we cried for days. Mark was strong and once he over came the shock of being told he had a terminal illness he set out to help fellow suffers of MND until the condition meant he could no longer drive. Mark meant a lot to a large number of people and made a big difference for many of those he helped, his life was precious and to die unattended in his flat is totally unforgiveable. We were all denied the opportunity to be with him at the end all his family and friends wanted to be there when he finally lost his fight with MND. The failure of those meant to care for him is why we are fighting for justice for Mark and why we want to raise awareness of AVMA for the brilliant work they do for grieving families in difficult circumstances. WE ALL MISS YOU MARK, REST IN PEACE XXX.
